Building Bridges

Despite an inordinate amount of wet weather and COVID19 creating a challenging work environment this winter, JFP has been working with our Construction partners to continue delivering results out on site. A good example of the persistence to get on with the Job are two Bridges that JFP has supported Hall Contracting and Pentacon to deliver.

Pelican Waters Pedestrian Bridge

JFP has worked with Hall’s to deliver a number of bridges as part of the Master Planned Pelican Waters Estate on the Sunshine Coast. A new pedestrian and cycle bridge was recently completed which connects Bells Creek and the coastal pathway to the south with the Pelican Waters Central Park to the north. JFP undertook the survey set-out in the field to ensure the bridge was constructed accurately and in accordance with the intended design. The bridge will be opened to the public in the very near future.

Widgee Crossing Road over Gympie Creek

Despite three separate flood events, including reportedly the largest one in over a century, work has continued to replace the well-worn timber bridge on Widgee Crossing Road over Gympie Creek. Once again JFP was requested to assist with the survey set-out for the upgrade. This included confirming initial horizontal and vertical survey control and site visits for set-out of piles, abutments, cut off walls, deck and adjoining road upgrades. Pentacon required regular conformance reports comparing as-constructed levels against design. Despite the significant challenges, the bridge is close to being completed
