The purpose of a combined Bioretention & Detention Stormwater Basin is to manage both the quality and quantity of flood waters.

The Bioretention component absorbs pollutants, thus improving the quality of water leaving the site.  The Detention component temporarily stores water, thereby limiting outflows to downstream properties.
