JFP was engaged by Brisbane City Council to undertake survey works across 47 creek cross sections spanning approximately 12km of the Oxley Creek Catchment. The project demanded a blend of technical precision and physical endurance, as our surveyors navigated varied and often difficult terrain by land, boat and canoe.
The surveyors survey employed a combination of Network RTK GNSS, Total Station and depth sounding techniques using the Cee Pulse 100 mounted on the bow of a boat. Upstream sections were completed by utilising the incoming tide Sections were completed upstream from Graceville with the incoming tide, and as the creek narrowed toward the Ipswich Motorway, our team switched to canoe, navigating mangroves and tidal currents shallow waters.
This project pushed our team to expand their technical knowledge and field capabilities, particularly in hydrographic survey techniques. The use of depth sounding and new equipment required detailed research and adaptability.
JFP’s enhanced understanding of creek-based surveys strengthens our ability to deliver future hydrographic and environmental projects with increased accuracy and confidence
