Our Surveyors were asked by Brisbane City to assist with both land and water borne Surveys for the proposed high profile Kangaroo Point Green Bridge from the City Botanic Gardens to Kangaroo Point.
Prior to works commencing on site previous Bathymetric surveys by others were checked by cross river long sections utilising data from 2 separete sources. Once on site a Remotely Controlled Boat (USV) was deployed with survey grade Airmar SS510 Single Beam 200khz and Lowrance side scan sonars plus real time GNSS locations coupled to Software capture system Hydro Magic. This combination is capable of back to base processing and analysis while bathymetric capture is occuring. This data was checked against a more conventional survey method by a small boat utilising a echo logger EU400 mounted on standard GNSS survey pole capturing sonar points and reduced by post-processing with RTK GNSS data through Hydro Magic software.
Works were authorised through the HarbourMaster with late night windows only available between the last and first city ferries.
This project is an example of JFP’s ability to utilise innovative methods to capture Survey data both on land and water.
