Integrate engineering design requirements into an environmentally sensitive State Forest interface
This project involved upgrading a 1.4km section of unsealed public road to a 50kph design speed seal formation. Direct interface with State Forest and extensive existing vegetation within the existing road reserve provided constraints on ultimate road alignment. JFP were able to satisfy local authority’s horizontal and vertical geometric design standards whilst maintaining all significant existing vegetation.
Engineering design involved integration of local authority’s horizontal and vertical alignment sight distance design requirements into an environmentally sensitive State Forest interface. Requirement to preserve existing State Forest vegetation provided constraints and controlled new road formation levels. Design had to accommodate local authority requirements to maintain public access at all times during the construction process.
JFP gained experience providing a compliant public road design while successfully integrating and maintaining existing vegetation.
